The ERC-20 function of allowance is a bit awkward regarding the UX and the atomicity of blockchain transactions. Creating a new layer-1 protocol EVM compatible is a good opportunity to solve this issue forever and allow transactions to move directly tokens, not just the native coin. It would just require an additional address of the ERC20 (or new equivalent) contract of the token to move.
Cardano does the same thing building Native Tokens into the core protocol. It’s quite a significant design difference that has a lot of great implications.
